Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are developing measures to increase freight traffic volumes.
On August 10–11, 2026, representatives of the transport departments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan conducted a joint working tour of transport and logistics infrastructure facilities on the Kazakh-Chinese border. The working tour was organized as part of the implementation of the agreements reached at the 23rd meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation. The delegations of the two countries were led by Vice Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhanibek Taizhanov and First Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mamanbiy Omarov.
During the working tour, the delegations visited the Altynkol railway station, the Kedentransservice terminal, the KTZE-KhorgosGateway dry port, and the Khorgos-Eastern Gate special economic zone.
The Uzbek side was given a hands-on demonstration of the existing mechanisms for receiving, processing, and transshipping cargo arriving from China, the capabilities of Kazakhstan’s railway and terminal infrastructure, and the organization of onward shipments of cargo along international transport routes.
Particular attention was paid to the prospects for increasing cargo flow along the China-Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan route, more efficient use of existing terminal facilities, and the development of joint logistics solutions.
Following the working visit, the parties agreed to continue the substantive development of joint initiatives aimed at increasing cargo volumes, developing terminal infrastructure, and strengthening transport and logistics connectivity between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
