Terminal network development enhances transit potential of the China-Kazakhstan-Russia corridor.

Kazakhstan continues to develop its terminal infrastructure, strengthening its position as a key transit hub in Eurasia. This was announced by Kuat Kubenov, Deputy General Director for Development of Kedentransservice JSC, during the panel session «International Cooperation: Development of Transport Corridor Infrastructure: Key Infrastructure Projects and Prospects for Implementing Waterway Development Projects» at the 22nd Kazakhstan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum in Omsk.

KTZ’s extensive terminal infrastructure, including 19 operating terminals—from Lianyungang and the dry port in Xi’an (China) to the western regions of Kazakhstan—as well as the implementation of comprehensive measures to expand transit potential, has ensured a significant increase in container traffic. Over the past 12 years, container transit through Kazakhstan has increased nearly fivefold, from 300,000 TEUs in 2013 to 1.4 million TEUs by 2025.

The positive growth in transportation volumes requires continued, consistent infrastructure development within the country and in border areas, as well as an expanded presence in international markets. Currently, KTZ is implementing projects to create terminal infrastructure in Russia, Belarus, China, the Persian Gulf, and Europe.

«The China-Kazakhstan-Russia transport corridor has already become a fully-fledged international highway. Our shared goal is to make it as seamless as possible, compliant with international standards and modern logistics development trends,» emphasized Kuat Kubenov.
